Floresville Lions Club helps promote good vision

One of the main community service programs of Lions International is the collection of used eyeglasses.

Earlier this month the Floresville Lions Club turned over 1,000 pairs of used eyeglasses at the District 2-2A. This is about 50 more pairs of eyeglasses than were turned in last year.

All eye glasses collected by the Floresville Lions are processed by local Lions prior to being sent to the district, where they are passed on and ultimately used to provide glasses for the needy. Lions clubs are well known for working to prevent blindness and providing other services to help the visually impaired. In addition to collecting, sorting, and distributing used eyeglasses, the Floresville Lions Club provides eye screenings several times a year by sponsoring the Mobile Eye Screening Unit.

Donating your used prescription eyeglasses is one easy way that people can help in the project.
